The Constitution of India (IAST: Bhāratīya Saṃvidhāna) is the supreme law of India. The document lays down the framework demarcating fundamental political code, structure, procedures, powers, and duties of government institutions and sets out fundamental rights, directive principles, and the duties of citizens. It is the longest written constitution of any country on earth. B. R. Ambedkar, chairman of the drafting committee, is widely considered to be its chief architect.
It imparts constitutional supremacy (not parliamentary supremacy, since it was created by a constituent assembly rather than Parliament) and was adopted by its people with a declaration in its preamble. Parliament cannot override the constitution.
Time taken to form the Constitution
The 389 members of the Constituent Assembly took 2 years, 11 months and 18 days to form the constitution of our country. It is because of them, that today we are able to enjoy so much freedom and liberty.
The National Emblem
One of the most interesting facts about the Indian constitution is that on January 26, 1950, the lions of the Sarnath temple were adopted as the national emblem along with the bull, wheel, and horse.

Time taken to pass the Constitution
It was not at all easy to write the constitution and it was not even a works’ day where the constitution was formed and written. The Constitution was framed on 26 November and it took almost three years for the members of the constitution to pass the amendments and constitution.
Drafting of the Indian Constitution
The Constitution of India is not a 10-page document it is damn lengthy and imagine that the Indian Constitution is handwritten in beautiful calligraphy and it is written in both English and Hindi. There is no trace of any print in the entire constitution and it looks very beautiful and is written in cursive. The Constitution is now safely protected in a helium box in the parliament house.

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on 13 December 1946 set the road map for forming the Indian Constitution and B.R Ambedkar worked hard towards it in forming a proper shape.
The Indian Constitution is the largest Constitution in the World
The constitution of India is the longest constitution in the world with 448 articles, 94 amendments, and 12 schedules. No doubt why it is the largest or the lengthiest constitution in the world.
